Your Home. Your Build. Your Control.

“You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems”.

- James Clear

Congratulations.

You’ve made the call or bought the land to undertake a new custom build or major reno. Woohoo. Pop the champagne!

That’s so exciting.

Deciding to start is perhaps the hardest part. So, you are off to a flying start.

Okay…. So, what next?! Are you wondering-

Should we….

  • Check our borrowing capacity?

  • Check what we can comfortably repay?

  • Reach out to builders?

  • Reach out to designers?

  • Make a Pinterest Board?

  • Make another Pinterest Board?

Then how will we....

  • Know which style to go for?

  • Get on the same page about style and budget?

  • Find the right designer or design team?

  • Find the right builder who won’t rip us off or go-bust?

  • Stay on budget?

  • Ensure the end result is stunning?

And… How can we possibly squeeze in building a new home build or undertaking a major reno on top of our already busting schedules?

Ugh. That fuzzy, elated feeling is beginning to fade right.

It’s okay. Don’t stress. You are in the right place to start getting it right.

Undertaking a new custom build or major renovation for a meaningful home is something you might only do once or twice in a lifetime. You aren’t meant to have all the answers just yet, and feeling a little overwhelmed at the very start is entirely normal.

An Experience.

Building or renovating your home is an experience. When properly instigated, it can be one of life’s most enriching and rewarding experiences. But we have all heard horror stories where the opposite was true. If we were to run an autopsy on the ‘horror story’ projects, you can bet your bottom dollar they would reveal one or both of the following discoveries

  • Homeowners had unrealistic expectations of cost and process.

  • Too little consideration was given to engaging with the right team.

Horror stories unfold when we stick our heads in the sand and adopt a ‘winging it’ approach. Winging it might be great for something as inconsequential as throwing together a meal or delivering a speech, but it isn’t the best practice when instigating your new custom build or major reno.

The building industry can be tricky. It evolves regularly with planning restrictions, building regulations and the like. And as I’m sure you are well aware, construction costs have increased significantly in recent years..

What is Home Build Mentoring?

So, I’m sure you are wondering exactly what Home Build Mentoring is and why you would need it for your project. I mean, the process of designing and building is expensive enough without paying for something else before you even start, right? I get it.

But as the homeowner and head honcho of the whole project, you actually come into the process with a great responsibility. Your responsibility includes having clearly defined ambitions for your project. Ambitions that aren’t just images with a wishful budget attached. But rather ambitions that align your hopes and dreams with realistic expectations of timeframe, size, cost and style. This is where my help comes in.

Through my ‘Pre-Build Game Plan’ service, we develop a custom Project Scope and Creative Brief that details succinctly your ambitions for your project while also giving you the direction and tools to find and engage with the right design and building teams to protect your project.
